BYD S6 Wins C-NCAP Five-star Rating

• BYD S6 has been ranked for the best-selling self-owned brand SUV model for three consecutive months

• The safety collision test result of BYD S6 reached C-NCAP Five-star rating

Shenzhen – Dec 30, 2011, China Automobile Technology Research Center announced formally the fourth group of the C-NCAP impact test scores on Dec 29, 2011. BYD S6 gains the highest five-star security rating (http://www.c-ncap.org.cn/app/cncap/eng/pzsj_eng.jsp?pzid=3321), making it the first Chinese self-owned SUV model with five-star security rating.

In the tests, BYD S6 performed outstandingly in aspect of body structure design and safety device validity. The energy crumple system absorbs most of the impact in the crash with no significant deformation of the cockpit and the pillar; all the airbags and safe gas shade opened up instantaneously, and the test dummy in the cabin maintained a good condition with no obvious displacement. The comprehensive passive safety measures in the S6 can meet the most stringent safety standards, providing all-round protection to all the occupants when collision occurs. BYD S6 also boasts much more strong active safety features than many other SUV models, including the driving assistance system, high-rigidity car body, intelligent management system and so on.

As the first SUV model of BYD, S6 has passed all kinds of safety tests; the test items of BYD’s internal testing laboratory are much tougher than the national standard. BYD pays great attention to every detail of design, styling, testing and manufacturing of the S6; the overall quality and workshop of the S6 can meet the standard of some Joint Venture brand.

In November, 2011, BYD S6 continually topped the sales of self-owned brand SUV in China for three consecutive months with 12,296 units, and even surpassed many joint venture brand SUV models including the Toyota RAV 4, Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai ix35, etc, ranking at the second place of the top ten SUV models in China. With strong sales performance and good market recognition, BYD S6 was awarded the "SUV of the Year" by Annual Ranking of Chinese Automobile in December, 2011, which is considered one of the most important and influential ranking in the automotive industry of China.
